This travel photography competition invites photographers to look beyond the postcard views and capture the deeper essence of journeys – those fleeting moments that forge genuine connections with the world around us. It’s a call to document the stories, the people encountered, and the raw emotions that transform a simple trip into an indelible experience. Submissions are encouraged to move beyond conventional tourist snapshots, instead focusing on the authentic moments that reveal the intricate layers and vibrant richness of a place. This exhibition seeks to celebrate the unvarnished realities and genuine encounters that truly define the transformative power of travel.

Additional Information

Participation Fee:

Upon selection for an Exhibition, a nominal fee of £15 will be applicable for one showcased artwork. The following structure has been devised to ensure affordability, enabling the display of multiple pieces. 

£15 for one showcased artwork. 
£25 for two showcased artworks.
£35 for three​ showcased artworks.

Submission Guidelines:

Submit up to 3 images in JPG format

Include:

– Your name and surname
– Your Instagram handle
– A short biography + an artist statement​ 
– Artwork(s) details, including: 
Title, year of creation, price in GBP (if applicable)

Prize & Judging Details

– One or more of your photographs will be showcased in a Virtual Online Exhibition.

– Participants will receive a free PDF copy of the Exhibition Catalogue.

– Participants will receive a free Certificate of Recognition.

– Photographers can expect to see their work featured in social media posts and stories.

– Your photograph(s) will be permanently uploaded on Instagram (@carlottagallery).

Participants will have their work permanently featured on the Artists page of http://www.carlottagallery.co.uk, alongside their biography and Artist statement.

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
