Competition Details

Showcase Your Color Vision: The 8th Chromatic Awards. Photographers worldwide, both professional and amateur, are invited to participate in the Chromatic Awards, an international celebration of color photography. This is your opportunity to gain recognition and win cash prizes. Your work will be evaluated by a distinguished international jury of magazine editors, curators, and industry professionals across 20 categories.

Prizes:
The winner among the professionals will receive $2,000 and the winner of the amateur category will get $1,000. Cash prizes will be paid in USD by PayPal. Any fees incurred for foreign currency transfers will be deducted from the winning amount. There are no alternatives available for prize winners.

PREPARING THE FILES
– images prepared for uploading must be 1200 pixels wide (longest side),
– JPEG format (*.jpg or *.jpeg),
– sRGB or Adobe98 colour space, 8-bit,
– saved at maximum quality,
– do not include watermarks, borders* or signatures on your images (or your entry will be disqualified).* except Polaroids and other traditional process photos where border is inherent part of the image.Winning Entrants must be able to provide a high resolution digital file (minimum 2500px wide, 300dpi) to be included in Chromatic Photography Awards Annual Book. Only files sent on time that meet the requirements for printing will be published. Please note: if you have not been asked for high resolution file, your photo will not be included in the book.

Prize & Judging Details

The winner among the professionals will receive $2,000 and the winner of the amateur category will get $1,000. The winning entries awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals for each category will be presented both in the Gallery of Winners and the Official Book of Chromatic Awards. The photographers will also receive the right to use the winner badge and certificate.


Usage Rights, Copyright & Moral Rights
Usage License

Copyright holders of all awarded images grant the Chromatic Awards non-exclusive use of low-resolution pictures on our website, without any remuneration being due.

Images will be used strictly in connection to the awards and will not be used for any other marketing purposes other than to promote the contest and Winners. Images will not be resold or used by any other third party. If there is a request for such, we will forward that request to the photographer via e-mail.

To promote winners of the Chromatic Awards is granted the right to display images on social network websites (on our official profiles) including: Facebook and Instagram.

You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of your name and images for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity in connection with the competition without additional compensation.

Chromatic Awards and its media partners assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse by external third parties.

Any photograph used by the Chromatic Awards shall carry a credit line.

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
