Competition Details

The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) is the first and longest-running competition dedicated to showcasing the incredible power of mobile photography. Open to photographers worldwide, the contest celebrates images captured exclusively with an iPhone or iPad.

Entries are accepted until March 31, 2026. Photographers can submit images that have not been previously published, though photos posted on personal social media are eligible. While images cannot be altered using desktop software like Photoshop, photographers are encouraged to use any iOS apps for editing. Add-on lenses are also permitted. Submissions must be at least 1000 pixels in either height or width, and entrants may be asked to provide the original image file for verification.

Categories include: Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Children, Citylife/Cityscape, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, People, Portrait, Series (3 images), Other.

  • 10 images:$55.50
  • 15 images:$65.50
  • 20 images:$75.50
  • 25 images:$95.50

There are no limits on the number of entries; however, we recommend that you only submit your best ones.

Prize & Judging Details

All photographers compete for the 4 IPPAWARDS Photographers of the Year. Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Top Prizes: All entries compete for the prestigious IPPA Photographer of the Year Award title, and the top 3 winners will receive each a prize to be announced later.

12 Gold Bars: The 1st place winner of the 12 categories will win a Gold Bar from the most recognizable private gold mint in the world.

12 Platinum Bars: The 2nd and 3rd place winners of the 12 categories will win a Platinum Bar from the most recognizable private gold mint in the world.

The work of the top winner and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners on each category will be publicized on IPPAWARDS online gallery and any published IPPAWARDS materials.

Certificates in all Categories :: All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each categories will receive a IPPAWARDS certificate.

Honorable Mentions :: IPPAWARDS judges will award several Honorable Mention to entries to acknowledge talent as they deem fit.

Judging Process

Members of the Jury will review all entries and judge images on the basis of artistic merit, originality, subject, and style and ultimately decide the winners.

Any photograph used by IPPAWARDS shall carry the photographer’s credit line.

All entrants understand and agree that any image submitted to the competition may be used by IPPAWARDS to use for marketing and promotional purposes including in any media such as exhibitions, print and digital media directly related to the IPPAWARDS competition.

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
