The NATURE AND HUMANS PHOTO COMPETITION 2025 invites photographers to explore the multifaceted relationship between humanity and the natural environment. Across fifteen distinct categories, the competition seeks images that prompt reflection on both the positive and negative impacts of human beings on nature. Additionally, it aims to celebrate the immense beauty of our planet and its diverse species.

This competition boasts a generous prize pool of €14,000, with over €9,000 awarded in cash, making it one of the most substantial photography competitions in both the Spanish and international circuits. It offers a significant opportunity for photographers to gain recognition for their work while contributing to a deeper understanding of our connection to the natural world.

Submission Guide:

Photographs must be submitted in JPG format and must contain their metadata or Exif data. This  data is automatically encrypted and cannot be seen by the judges at any time, so it is not a pro blem if the metadata includes the authorship of the image. Images must be submitted without fra mes, signatures or watermarks.

IMPORTANT: the JPG image must have a minimum of 3000 pixels on its longest side and  a resolution of 300dpi. The maximum size limit for each image is 100Mb.

Entrants may, at the time of submitting their photographs to the competition, also submit the RAW  file of each image. This is voluntary at the time of submitting the JPG, but entrants might choose  not to do so, in order to avoid having to submit the RAW if their entry is chose for the final phase of  judging (moment in which, submitting the RAW image becomes compulsory).

Each entrant may submit a maximum of 30 photographs and is free to choose the distribution of  the images among the categories.

The same photograph may not be entered in more than one category.

In the case of photographs that reach the final phase of judging, the Jury may request any clarification it deems appropriate about the image to ensure compliance with the rules. Failure by the participant to respond will result in the disqualification of the photograph.

Originality is important to us. The jury will take into account in its deliberations if any of the images  submitted have won a first prize (absolute winner or category winner) in any of the main Spanish or  international competitions if this circumstance is known by the Jury when their deliberations take  place.

Each image must be accompanied by a caption, comment or description.

★★★★★ 5.0 Stars: Exemplary Standard

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
