The ND Awards celebrate photography and photographers, creating global opportunities to showcase exceptional work. We provide a platform for diverse perspectives, fostering growth through competition.

Professional and non-professional winners will be named ND Photographer of the Year and ND Discovery of the Year, respectively, and will receive cash prizes. Our esteemed judging panel comprises renowned gallery owners, publishers, editors, and photographers.

Usage License

For awarded images, copyright holders grant the ND Awards unlimited non-exclusive use of high-resolution images for activities in all media, including social media, online and print, in relation to the contest and all promotional activities without any remuneration being due.

Copyright holders of all awarded images grant the ND Awards non-exclusive use of low-resolution pictures on our website, without any remuneration being due.

Images will be used strictly in connection to the awards and will not be used for any other marketing purposes other than to promote the ND Awards. Images will not be resold or used for commercial purposes by any other third party.

To promote winners of the ND Awards is granted the right to display images on social network websites (on our official profiles) including: Facebook and Instagram.

You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of your name and images for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity in connection with the competition without additional compensation.

ND Awards and its media partners assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse by external third parties.

Any photograph used by the ND Awards shall carry a credit line.

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
