Competition Details

The Art of Landscape is a photography exhibition seeking to expand the definition of “landscape” beyond traditional natural vistas by inviting work that traverses the realm between the natural and the built, the monumental and the ephemeral. They are looking for images where horizons collide with vertical skylines, including cityscapes, seascapes, industrial scapes, deserts, forests, and imagined terrains. The goal is to create a visual exploration of our relationship to time and place, examining how humanity is transformed by the diverse environments it inhabits.

All forms of two-dimensional images, traditional and non-conventional media, and conventional or alternative photographic processes with a subjective analogue or digital photographic base are welcome for submission.

Submission Fee:

An entry fee of $20 is required and necessary to support our advertising campaigns, promotional materials, and various administrative costs. We offer merit-based and hardship fee waivers to citizens in a state of war or unrest, and those living in a country with a low economic index. If you require a waiver to submit your work, please get in touch with us through our contact form or by email, requesting a fee waiver. Please note that these are limited because this venture is more expensive than you think it is.

Entry Instructions:

  • You may submit up to (3) images per entry. You may submit more than one entry.
  • There is no size or production year restriction for submitted images.
  • Please list your print dimensions in inches or centimetres. (If something is not for sale, then you do not need to provide this information.)
  • Please name your images in the following format: firstname_lastname_title01.jpeg.
  • Please upload your files with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side and a minimum size of 500 KB.

While TCG is a commercial gallery, participants may list their work as Not for Sale (NFS). However, participants are strongly encouraged to price their work. Once priced, TCG’s agent will promptly contact a participant regarding any purchase inquiry. TCG will retain a 30% commission on any work sold through TCG and its agents.

Prize & Judging Details

Approximately 35 images will be selected for exhibition in The Chateau’s Online Gallery (TCG)

Exhibition: December 1st, 2025 – January 1st, 2026

Judging Process

Jurors for TCG are a rotating assortment of past exhibitors, curators, editors, and members of various fields in the arts and culture sector. We believe in a “blind” jury process in which the juror is unaware of the photographer’s identity. The selection process is based solely on the image and its title. Providing an image description is optional, but is highly encouraged. TCG will notify entrants by email of the juror’s selections.

Report Rating Guide

Our goal is to help photographers make informed choices and to support organizers in building trust. This report details our assessment of this competition’s adherence to our Photo Competition Standards, highlighting its strengths and areas for potential enhancement.

★☆☆☆☆ 1.0 Stars ->: Significant Issues

★★☆☆☆ 2.5 Stars ->: Basic Compliance

★★★☆☆ 3.5 Stars ->: Meets Expectations Well

★★★★★ 5.0 Stars: Exemplary Standard

Key Principles of Fair Usage.

  • Respect for copyright: Organizers should acknowledge and respect the photographer’s ownership of their work.
  • Limited use: Usage rights should be limited to purposes directly related to the marketing/promotion of the competition, photos and photographers.
  • Specific Usage: Detailed information regarding where the images will be used for the promotion of the competition, this should include websites, social media, partners website, media outlets, books & calendars etc.
  • Moral Rights: Photographers should be credited whenever their images are used. This includes publication and Media not owned by the organiser. Editing and manipulation of the images should be kept to a minimum.
  • License Duration: The usage license should be limited in time with a maximum of 5 years, but ideally less.
  • Compensation: Photographers should be compensated for commercial use of their images beyond promotional purposes. This can be detailed in the terms or by a separate agreement.

In essence, fair usage in a photo competition balances the organiser’s need to promote the competition, its winning entries and photographers, with the photographer’s right to control their work and receive any appropriate compensation.
