Competition Details

The AAP Street Photography Contest seeks to celebrate the tradition of urban photography, a genre that has documented the fast-paced life of towns and cities since the time of Louis Daguerre. Inspired by iconic photographers like Henri Cartier Bresson, Diane Arbus, and Vivian Maier, the competition is an open call for a cohesive body of work or portfolio that captures the essence of urban life.

Submissions should focus on the “weird and wonderful moments unfolding around you,” with the subject matter left entirely up to the photographer. The competition welcomes all capture methods and processes, including digital, analogue, and monochromatic toning.

By entering the street photo competition, you have a chance to get your work published in the next printed issue of AAP Magazine. As a winner, you will also receive a free copy of the magazine and will be permanently featured in the online winner’s gallery.

The 1 scores will be added to produce a final score out of 5.

The highest scoring images will then go through a second round to be re-scored between 1 and 7 by the juror on the panel, and the highest scoring image after this round will be deemed the first place winner, the second highest scoring image will be deemed the second place winner etc.

In the case of a tie the scores from the first round will be added to the scores of the second round. The Image with the highest overall score will be deemed the winner.
